Context: At a conference on African youth, a Catholic bishop posed the question: "What is a youth that descends into total alcoholism? What is a youth whose head of state is unaware of all the difficulties affecting them?" This bishop challenged all the speakers, but unfortunately, no one responded. Neither the administrative authorities representing African states, nor local associations, nor even young people were able to provide a satisfactory answer to the author of these two questions. This is a great shame. African youth are drifting because they lack guidance. The overall objective of our research is to identify the main factors associated with excessive alcohol consumption among young people aged 14-35 in the Binza Ozone health zone.
Methodology: Survey method, interview technique, and questionnaire were used as the data collection tool.
Results: 70.8% know the danger of alcohol, 35.2% consume alcohol at any time, 28.9% in the party, The consumption of alcohol is not linked to the level of education of our young people surveyed because a significant difference is not observed p>0.05. The consumption of alcohol is not linked to the profession of our young people surveyed because a significant difference is not observed p>0.05. The consumption of alcohol is not linked to the monthly income of our young people surveyed because a statistically significant difference is not observed, p>0.05. The consumption of alcohol is not linked to the age group of our young people surveyed because a statistically significant relationship is not observed, p>0.05.
Discussion: Our results confirm those found by WHO 2023.
Keywords: alcohol, excessive consumption, young people, health zone.
